The Band MercyMe found national critical acclaim from the Christian Community with its 1999 hit "I Can Only Imagine." Traveling with Shepherd Ministries, the band has spent the past several years providing worship music at student conferences. This, they admit freely, is the best part of their collective job. Truely, their path was carved for them by their predecessors in 1980s Christian Contemporary Music. And one of those trail blazers will sing a song written by Bart Millard, lead singer. MercyMe has agreed to let Amy Grant record "I Can Only Imagine" on her next album. The song with such a powerful message will now go out to the masses in a way that it could not before.
