Even though gospel music has changed over the years we should never forget the ones who brought us over. There are greats like Thomas Dorsey( who is the founder of gospel music), Thomas Whitfield, James Cleveland and Richard Smallwood just to name a few. But now times are different. You have a new sound that is on the scene. A sound that is called contemporary gospel. And that is where artist like Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, John P. Kee, and Karen Clark-Sheard come in. Even though the sound is different the message is still the same yet proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let's learn a little about our new artist.

	Yolanda Adams For gospel legend Yolanda Adams her new album Mountain High...Valley Low has given her the opportunity to bring her inspirational vision. Since 1988 with her album "Just As I Am" she has been wooing audiences every since.
	Donnie McClurkin A man that never intended to be one of the major gospel stories or figures in gospel music has become just that. With his newest album Live in London and More has made him even bigger. Since the 80's he has been on the scene with his annointing being demostrated through preaching the word and singing.
	John P. Kee One of gospel's greatest artist since the 80's came out with a new album Not Gulity . It is a double disk CD with new sounds from contemporary to traditonal. Out of his hardship he formed New Life Community choir and he has been in demand every since.
	Karen Clark-Sheard Since the age of 6 Karen has performed with her siblings as the Clark Sisters under the guidance of her mother. Well she is not a kid anymore. With her first solo album entitled Finally Karen has made Karen an artist to be reconized. Organizations such as the NAACP, GMWA, Stella Awards and the Lady of Soul Awards. And since her album release she has been nominated for the best gospel album of the year. So keep your eyes and ears open for her new project.
	Fred Hammond, what can we say about a man who had been around for 18yrs and still on top. Known for his awesome praise and worship he has taken the world by storm. This modern day David is a psalmist, vocalist, songwriter and bassist, who has had previous success with groups like Commision,the Winans and his new group Radicals for Christ. Nominated by Grammy, the N.A.A.C.P, Image Awards and have already received numerous Stellar, Dove and GMWA Excellence Awards. So keep your eyes and ears open for their new project it's going to be AWESOME!

First we have to understand what the gospel is. It is the birth, the death and the resurrection of Christ. So with gospel music changing we can expect even greater artist to come on the scene. But one thing that we should count on is the message still being the same. The message that Jesus still heals, delivers and saves.
